The 28-year-old denies two charges of sexual activity with a child under 16, but has already admitted one similar charge and one of grooming.
The father-of-one took to the stand for the first time yesterday admitting he was “aware” the girl was 15 at the time after police arrested him at his home in County Durham.
Johnson denied engaging in a sex act with the girl in his car.
He admitted kissing the girl, who can not be named for legal reasons, “fully on the lips” in his Range Rover on January 30 last year but insists it went no further.
When pressed he said he had “no specific recollection” of being aroused by the encounter, adding that the pair”s initial meetings had been “platonic in nature”.
Bradford Crown Court heard he had written in a text that he was looking forward to “naughty” Snapchat messages from the girl.
Johnson accepted the girl as a friend on Facebook and exchanged phone numbers and swapped messages on WhatsApp.
Apologising to the girl, he said: “She”s a child and ought to have been safe in my company.”
Johnson also admitted exchanging “explicit” texts with other women saying his relationship with partner and mother of his child Stacey Flounders was “not good”.
The trial, which is entering its eighth day, continues today.
