Daughter uses iPhone app to prank mum into thinking she had allergic reaction to nuts

Claire Maughan sent this distorted image to her mum (Picture: Deadline).

Poor old Claire Maughan’s mum.

One minute she’s going about her day, the next her daughter is telling her she has had an allergic reaction to nuts and sending her this grotesque image.

Of course, while some of you might have cottoned on to the fact that this picture has been distorted by an app, Claire’s mum didn’t.

In fact, she was so worried she phoned an ambulance.

Claire, who like her mum is from Edinburgh, later posted the exchange on Twitter, where, unsurprisingly, everyone found it hilarious.

Some were concerned – and probably, quite rightly – for her mum’s mental state but it’s obvious from the post that it was all in the name of fun.

Claire, we think you probably called it correctly later on when you wrote: ‘She’s not gonna be happy with me.’.

How the prank unfolded

Claire: ‘Mum I think I have taken an allergic reaction.’

Claire’s mum: ‘How? What has happened?’

Claire: ‘Well I ate some cake that had nuts in it and I completely forgot that I was allergic to them.’

Claire’s mum: ‘Omg hunni are you ok?’

Claire: *Hilarious picture* with text: ‘I don’t think I look okay.’

Claire’s mum: ‘Jesus Christ of mighty what has happened to your face. I’m phoning ambulance what is the address for your work’

Claire’s mum: ‘Claire. Why are you not answering?”

A WOMAN used an iPhone app to prank her mother into believing she had suffered an extreme allergic reaction to nuts. Claire Maughan took a selfie and then used the app to grotesquely distort her features, making her cheeks and lips puffy and swollen. Claire, from Edinburgh, sent the doctored snap to her unsuspecting mother, saying she had suffered an allergic reaction. According to a hilarious exchange of texts, Claireís mum demanded her work address and said she was calling an ambulance. The messages and pictures have been posted online and have already been retweeted 1,200 times.
