Mandy Boylett, the former Ukip parliamentary candidate for Stockton North, has created an ‘Abba-style’ version of the terrace song penned by comedians David Baddiel and Frank Skinner.

The pair’s tune achieved huge popularity during the European Championships in 1996, when England cruelly lost on penalties during a semi-final against Germany.

Ms Boylett will now be hoping her own version, titled ‘Britain’s Coming Home’, is set to become just as popular during the upcoming EU referendum – to be held on June 23.

The mum-of-two has uploaded her tune to YouTube, with the video showing her dressed in a Union Jack top and tiny shorts.

Ms Boylett belts out the chorus “We”re coming out, we”re voting Leave/Believe in Britain coming home” as she dances around – also appearing in the clip with a blonde wig.

Baddiel today welcomed the 51-year-old’s version of ‘Three Lions’.

The comic posted on Twitter: “Just to be clear: me and Frank didn”t give permission for this. But it”s so brilliantly naff, we might”ve anyway.”

He later described an appeal for Ms Boylett to enter her song for this year’s Eurovision as  “a fabulous suggestion”.

Ms Boylett, an aerobics teacher, has been tweeting excitedly about her video, which she published last night, all week.

She wrote: “Getting so excited about my #Brexit song now. Just putting the final touches to the video  :-) :-) :-)”

On her website, Ms Boylett describes how her father, a German Jew, left Germany in 1939 on the last train out of the country, three days before the start of the Second World War.

Grassroots Out, the Brexit movement supported by Ukip, have said the song is not an official part of their campaign.

THE FULL LYRICS TO “BRITAIN”S COMING HOME”:

We”re coming out, we”re voting Leave

Believe in Britain coming home

We”re coming out, we”re voting Leave

Believe in Britain coming home

Scare stories already begun, we”ve seen it all before

From Lib/Lab and Cameron

But we know the EU”s full of flaws

And they”ve opened our doors, overruled many laws

But we believe our flag”s red, white and blue

More than just a star

Only wanted trade; but now it”s gone too far

They want prisoners to vote

They”ve taken all our fish and money through the years

There”s endless regulations, red tape

It seems there”s no escape

Till the Leave vote takes shape. LET”S GET OUT!

Our flag”s red, white and blue

More than just a star

Only wanted trade; but now it”s gone too far

Better off when we Leave, we just need to believe

We”re coming out, we”re voting Leave

Believe in Britain coming home

We”re coming out, we”re voting Leave

Believe in Britain coming home

(repeat…)
