A dad-of-two was found with videos and images of children as young as three being raped.
John Clack, 43, had more than 2,300 images and videos stored on his mobile phone and home computer. These included 30 ‘category A’ images – the most serious classification of indecent images.
According to the Daily Record, police found the cache of downloads when Clack’s IP address was linked to a website hosting child pornography.
He later told investigators he had ‘stopped using the home computer to download the indecent images, as his children would use it for their homework and social media’. He then switched to using his mobile to visit child abuse websites.
Kirkcaldy Sheriff Court heard Clack had been surfing for legal porn on the internet, but was ‘curious’ when he saw pictures of children.
He then kept looking at and downloading videos and images of girls between the ages of three and 14.
When officers arrested him, they found 30 category A images, 107 category B images, 2173 category C images, four category B videos and 17 category C videos.
Clack admitted one charge of possessing indecent images, and has been ordered to sign the sex offenders’ register.
However, Sheriff James Williamson has deferred Clack’s sentencing until March 10, pending social work reports.
Lorraine Almond, prosecuting, told a hearing in January that Clack ‘tried to stop and was ashamed of what he was doing but somehow kept going back’.
