Star Wars actor found dead in car after heart attack


Richard Bonehill starred in Hollywood blockbusters and TV shows like Sharpe and had roles as a Stormtrooper in the original Stars trilogy and as Nien Nunb who flew the Millennium Falcon in Return of the Jedi.

He became a talented sword fight director for productions including Highlander and Sharpe and he worked with Sean Bean, Pierce Brosnan and Leonardo di Caprio.

An inquest heard the 65-year-old suffered years of heart problems and he was due to have surgery last January at Plymouth”s Derriford Hospital before it was cancelled due to high numbers of people there.

He was found dead in a car in Carbis Bay, Cornwall, ten days later with an enlarged heart.

The Truro inquest heard he was an international fencer who had won many competitions including four world championships and was fit and well.

He had been due to have the surgery on January 5th 2015 before it was cancelled, and again on January 19th but was again cancelled because of the continuing black alert.

It was rescheduled for February but he died days earlier.

Coroner Barrie van den Berg concluded that the married sportsman died from natural causes.
