The white peaks of the mountains in the Scottish Highlands looked splendid this morning after the first flakes of snow fell overnight.
Hikers and residents in the Cairngorms were out photographing the snowy landscape as daytime temperatures dipped down to just 8C in Scotland.
Heather Negus, of Nevis Range Mountain Experience, said: “It is unusual to see snow quite this early in the West Highlands.
“It was very exciting to come to work this morning and see a dusting of snow on the upper slopes.”
The rest of the country is set to see a mix of sun and showers today, according to the Met Office.
Tomorrow will see sunny spells for many areas, along with variable amounts of cloud and a few scattered showers.
These are most likely to affect northern and western areas, as well as the east coast of England.
Windy conditions are expected along North Sea coasts.
