Buildings on Borough High Street – between Southwark Street and Marshalsea Road – were evacuated amid bomb fears.
Cops on the scene were investigating a black car parked in a bus lane outside Sainsburys as seen in the picture above.
Londoners were urged to avoid the street at all costs.
Others took to social media to warn people of the “crazy” scenes.
One person warned: “Lots of angry drivers and not safe. #cyclesafe.”
A MET spokesman confirmed cops were alerted to the busy London street at 7.52am.
The busy street has now reopened as Scotland Yard confirmed the incident “stood down”.
This comes as a cops were alerted to a passenger plane after a bomb threat was made moments before take-off.
