Dead migrant found in back of lorry in Kent after being CRUSHED by catalogues

The body of the man was discovered by the lorry driver when he pulled into a lorry park in Kent this morning.

Other migrants ran out from the lorry when it stopped and the driver found the dead man lying under the cargo.

Emergency services attended the incident but the migrant could not be saved.

The vehicle stopped in a lorry park on Ashford Road, Kent.

The lorry involved reportedly had the markings of Austrian firm Klog Logistics, which transports different cargo across Europe.

Witness Julie Breen, 57, said: “The driver was quite distressed.

“He came across to me and said he had found a migrant in the back of his lorry.

“From what I can make out, the load got disturbed and I think it fell on him and he suffocated.

“I only saw a boot and a leg. I called the police. The driver was foreign and he had asked me to call the police.”

Kent Police and other emergency services were called to the scene.

Mrs Breen added: “Obviously it is very upsetting. We don’t know where he came from but he has probably got a family. It is not a nice thing to happen.”

A spokesman for Kent Police said: “At 8:29am on Tuesday October 18, Kent Police was called to an incident concerning a lorry on the A20 at Sellinge near Folkestone.

“Officers and South East Coast Ambulance Service attended and a man in the rear of the vehicles was pronounced dead at the scene.

“It is believed the lorry had travelled from France and inquiries are ongoing to identify the man and ascertain the cause of death.”
