The dashcam video shows a man named as Parta Huff, who had just crashed his car into an off-licence in Chicago, resisting arrest by two officers – one male and one female.
Huff refuses to get on the ground and drags the policewoman to the middle of the road despite being handcuffed.
The male officer says: “Come here. I ain’t f****** around with you. Get your hands behind your back.”
As he tries to restrain Huff, the female officer calls for the man to be tasered and yells: “stop fighting.”
The violent man refuses to obey the order and continues tussling with the pair before flooring the female officer and remaining on top of her.
Reinforcements were called and body cam footage released by Chicago Police Department from another officer who arrived at the scene shows a grim close up of Huff hanging on the woman’s hair as other cops shout: “Let go of her.”
The female officer screams: “He’s ripping my hair.”
Another officer at the scene says: “We’re Tasing, it’s not working. He’s got her by her f****** hair. He won’t let go.”
After several minutes on top of the woman police officers managed to get Huff off and load him into a police car.
The police officer suffered concussion and injuries to her shoulder, wrist and neck.
She was admitted to the hospital after the melee but was later released.
Superintendent Eddie Johnson said of the woman: “She looked at me and said she thought she was going to die.”
Johnson added: “She didn’t want her family or the department to have to go through the scrutiny the next day on the national news.”
Chicago Police Department released the harrowing videos last Friday (October 14).
The suspect later tested positive for PCP.
Huff had appeared in court that same day for pushing a Forest Park officer to the ground during a traffic stop, according to police.
He is being held without bail for attempted murder of a police officer and aggravated battery to a police officer.
