If an Olympic silver medal was not enough, rugby sevens star Sam Cross has revealed a local pub has been named after him.

The 23-year-old spoke of his Blaenau Gwent homecoming during a celebration of Team GB”s Olympic and Paralympic athletes in London”s Trafalgar Square on Tuesday.

He told BBC Radio 5 Live that Brynmawr is now home to the Sam Cross Bar.

“It was pretty surreal,” he said.

“They had an opening night and they were queuing down the street to come to it.”
