Hundreds of hungry diners braved driving rain as they queued patiently in a mile long line for more than two hours – for free pizza.

It comes after popular diner The Stable in Bath advertised that they would be giving away free pizza on Monday until 11pm.

Even the drinks were free.

The only condition was that people had to stay in the restaurant to eat their pizzas

The pavement outside the restaurant on Westgate Buildings was packed with pizza lovers who were all eager to sample their favourite toppings.

Beechen Cliff School pupil Ellie Harbinson and five other friends waited in line for two hours.

She said: ‘We’re 16-year-olds. We don’t want to go home and have broccoli and stuff.

‘I’m going to have the “Billy The Kid” because I love caramelised onions and I’ve been here and had it before and it was really really good.’
