BREAKING At least 10 injured in plane crash carrying Brazilian football team in Colombia


The plane, which was travelling from Bolivia to flying to José María Córdova International Airport in Rionegro, crashed after it ran out of fuel at 10.15pm local time in Cerro Gordo, part of the municipality of La Union.

The plane was carrying at least 81 people, including members of the soccer team Chapecoense from Brazil, which is scheduled to play Copa Sudamerica finals against Atletico Nacional on Wednesday in Medellin, Colombia’s second largest city.

The city’s mayor, Federico Gutierrez, told Blu Radio it was possible there were survivors but admitted: “It”s a tragedy of huge proportions.”

Local fire and rescue services have confirmed that at least ten individuals were injured in the crash.

They have been evacuated from the scene.
