Michael Luciano had just moments to escape the hellish flames that have caused widespread damage across Gatlinburg, in Tennessee, US.

In the nail-biting footage uploaded to Facebook, he is seen racing down a mountain with fire burning on both sides of the road.

Tall trees are ablaze and embers fly through the air – making the scene of devastation look like something out of a disaster movie.

The mass of smoke erupting from the flames makes it near impossible for Michael to see anything as he tries to get to safety.

He can be heard saying he took the wrong turning at one point in the horrific clip.

“If we can make it to the Welcome Centre… they’re not even trying to put this s*** out,” he says.

Michael is in the passenger seat, while his business partner drives.

His dog can also be heard desperately panting for air throughout.

At the end of the footage, the driver spots a cabin ablaze, saying: “Oh, god, that was a beautiful cabin too.”

He captioned one of the Facebook videos: “We almost didn’t make it out alive,” before adding he managed to escape.

More than 14,000 people have been evacuated from Gatlinberg by the wildfires.

There have been no fatalities reported yet, but three victims are being treated for serious burns.
