Miquel Quiroga – who died in the crash – was in charge of flying the passenger plane which was carrying 81 people – made up of 72 passengers and nine crew members.

He has been hailed as a hero after reports he dumped fuel seconds before the horror plunge.

This is said to have stopped an explosion which would have killed all onboard.

The flight is said to have crash landed in Colombia due to “technical failures”.

Disaster struck just five minutes before it reaches its destination at Medellin international airport.

Rescue teams have saved five people from the jet – including three Chapecoense footballers who are now being treated in hospital.

This photograph shows the pilot with a couple of the players.

It was taken shortly before take-off.

This comes after a haunting clip of the team just minutes before boarding the plane emerged after it was uploaded on Facebook Live.

It has been revealed the tragic team SWITCHED flights.

Manchester United have paid tribute to the footie stars.

A comedian has been blasted for his sick joke about the crash.
