Traffic in Nairobi, Kenya, ground to a halt as the bearded white male was spotted walking along bustling Moi Avenue last week.
Dressed in a long robe, the long-haired lad quickly became the centre of attention as he strolled down the street.
Several Kenyans took to Twitter to post selfies with the mysterious traveller, using the hashtag #JesusNairobi.
It comes just a month after the shrine believed to be Jesus’ final resting place was cracked open by scientists.
But the lookalike has since come forward to tell the world that he is not the Messiah.
In fact, Daniel Christos is just a tourist passing through Africa on a travelling stint.
He revealed on Facebook that “every single corner I walk in Nairobi, I have noticed someone either taking a photo or video”, according to local news sites.
Christos added he was a “little concerned” over the attention.
