Shoppers are campaigning against a Tesco branch that apparently smells overwhelmingly of faeces.

Posting on a dedicated Facebook page called ‘Turdy Tring Rd Tesco‘, people have been speculating that someone put a dirty nappy in the air conditioning.

Concern is growing for a woman who has been living in her car in a Gloucestershire lay-by for several days. See SWNS story SWCAR; The woman, who would only say her name is Susan, told Gloucestershire Live that she was fine but Gloucestershire County Council said its social services department was looking into the matter because of concerns from a couple running a nearby cafe. And Gloucestershire police also said they had sent an officer to talk to the woman after being contacted by the same couple.Pensioner pictured sleeping rough in her car during cold snap

Others are refusing to visit the shop in Aylesbury, Buckinghamshire, until the overwhelming smell is sorted out, and staff members are reportedly even looking for new jobs.

Tesco has said it’s trying to get rid of the aroma of poo, but campaigners say it’s been lingering around the store for years.

‘The smell is absolutely revolting,’ customer Dawn Powell wrote. ‘Will not be visiting this store again. I think there is a dirty nappy stuck in the air conditioning.

‘I really feel for the long-suffering staff, and rumour has it some are looking for a “fresh” career at Morrisons.’

Another shopper, Susan Smith, added: ‘This really should have been sorted out properly the first time it happened!

‘And I think Tesco are taking the piss out of us for putting up with it! So I for one will be taking my custom elsewhere!’

People have even claimed that Tesco are ‘bullying’ staff if they complain about the smell, or if they ‘like’ the Turdy Tring Rd Tesco Facebook page.

The page admin, who wishes to remain anonymous, said: ‘I have been reliably informed by numerous sources within Tesco that managers are bullying their staff.

‘They are threatening them with the sack if they like this page, share it or even comment on it. Staff have to endure the smell all shift long and are not allowed an opinion.

‘Tesco you should be ashamed of yourself, you stinking bully.’

When asked about the turd smell, a Tesco spokesman said: ‘We hold extremely high standards in our stores and since this problem was identified we have been working hard to fix it quickly. We would like to apologise to customers for any inconvenience caused.’
