In the video, the predator can be seen thrashing about as the water around it turns red with gore.

Eventually the victim of the attack wriggles free and is able to escape on to the beach, but it”s too late.

The seal has been fatally injured and, according to the man filming, only lived for about 10 minutes after its escape.

“It bled out on the beach and died within about 10 minutes. We just kept our distance and watched nature take its course. Incredibly sad.”

Cynthia Wigren, executive director of the Atlantic White Shark Conservancy, told the Boston Globe such attacks were common.

“We’ve seen on multiple occasions a white shark bite once and wait for the seal to bleed out,” she said.

“We know from tagging data that white sharks can still be found in waters off Cape Cod in November.”
