It’s all well and good to walk into the office, having spotted the Scottish flag on the Google homepage, and merrily wish everyone a happy St Andrew’s Day, but wouldn’t it be so much better if you could spout a load of Gaelic and confuse the hell out of them?

For those of you who want to pretend you have a secret Scottish uncle, here’s the answer:

Latha Naomh Anndra sona dhuibh!

If somebody tries to catch you out and ask where Scottish Gaelic comes from, show them you’ve really done your homework by saying ‘It’s a Celtic language developed out of Middle Irish. Duh.’

You’re welcome.

Go an impress people even further by rattling off these facts about St. Andrew, or even explaining to them the history of the Scottish flag.
