An outspoken investor who predicted Brexit – and backed Leave – has said that the Euro is doomed – and might be gone in as little as a year.
Jim Mellon, chairman of Burnbrae group, was rare among investors as he backed Leave – being cited by Michael Gove as a supporter, according to the Independent.
Mellon said, ‘Brexit is going to be a sideshow to the problems of Europe that are becoming more and more evident.
‘The euro as it stands at the moment is just a very inappropriate mechanism — I give the euro between one and five years of life.’
Many predict further political disruption in Europe – with populist candidates predicted to make gains in elections such as Italy’s December referendum and France’s May 2017 elections.
