TV minister Rick Joyner claimed during his most recent ‘Prophetic Perspectives on Current Events’ that Trump shared a lot of similarities with Jesus’ disciples and even compared him to Saint Peter – the founder of the Christian church.
He said: “If you look at the disciples that Jesus chose, they were all Donald Trump.
“Every one of them were Donald Trumps”.
Joyner said he met the Republican nominee during the election campaign and hailed him as “one of the most honest people I’ve ever met”.
He added: “He tells you what he really thinks – he’s not hiding anything”.
They discussed immigration, which turned out to be a central theme Trump’s campaign, as the preacher said he could see how emotional the President-elect got when he thought about deporting millions of immigrants and tearing families apart.
Joyner said: “He was about to bust out crying.
“He said, ‘We can’t do that, we can’t hurt the families, we’ve got to fix that.””
He added that Trump was “very different” to the media’s portrayal of him, saying he was “one of the kinder, gentler models of New York”.
The preacher shot to fame when he founded MorningStar Ministries with his wife Julie in 1983.
Mr Joyner is not the only member of the church praising the President-elect – Cardinal Raymond Leo Burke, Patron of the Sovereign Military Order of Malta, said he believed Trump “can find the right path”.
