Acid snow? Lurid layer of green snow falls across Russia

Bright green layers of snow were spotted in the Russian Ural Mountains after a chemical leak at a chrome factory.

Images of the acid coloured snow swept social media, with users commenting that it could be poisonous and harmful to heath.

But a spokesman for Russian Chrome Chemicals 1915 company confirmed there was no danger to residents health from the snow.

Officials have assured people in Pervouralsk that the snow would be cleared up in a day.

Last year people in Pervouralsk complained about colourful rain and snow which they also linked to the plant.

Some people reported throat aches at the time which they believed were linked to the snow and rain.
