The moment was caught on camera as Wealdstone played Maidenhead United in the Buildbase FA Trophy on Tuesday (November 29).

The away side had won themselves a dangerous looking free kick, about 30 yards from Wealdstone’s goal.

Standing behind the action was a lad and his girlfriend enjoying a “romantic” date.

But their evening was about to get rudely interrupted.

The Maidenhead player stood up to take the free kick, but failed miserably and it soared over the goal – straight at the couple.

With Spiderman-like reflexes the lad knew he had only one choice – defend his girl at all costs.

So he jumped out of his seat and dived into the path of the ball.

He headed it away without flinching and saved his girlfriend from a painful blow to the face.

Who said chivalry was dead?

It comes after a student was pictured acting as a human bench for an old lady.

And a Spiderman impersonator turned into a a real life superhero by saving a pregnant woman from her burning car.
