Scotland”s breast screening programme should be SCRAPPED, says top medic


Dr Helene Irvine, a consultant in Public Health Medicine, believes the national scheme - credited with saving thousands of lives - should be replaced with a more targeted approach.

In a submission to Holyrood"s Health and Sport Committee, she warns that "we pay a high price, in terms of false positives and unnecessary treatment, for the small number of lives saved".
